Taxpayers who filed their taxes earlier this year with federal payments scheduled for April 15 have until 11 p.m. tonight to reschedule them.
In March, the IRS and Treasury Department announced it would give taxpayers until July 15 to file their 2019 income tax returns and make any necessary payments. However, those who filed their returns early – before the COVID-19 outbreak – and scheduled a payment for April 15 can reschedule it for July, but must do so by 11 p.m. (midnight EST) tonight.
For taxpayers looking to reschedule or schedule their federal tax payments, the IRS offers two payment options that allow payment schedules up to 365 days in advance.
