IRS extends more tax deadlines

April 9, 2020

On April 9, the IRS extended more tax deadlines for individuals and businesses in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Notice 2020-23 provides additional relief for taxpayers who have a filing or payment deadline between April 1 and July 15. This extension applies to fiscal year entities, estate tax returns, nonprofit organizations, information returns and more.

Additionally, the deadline for second-quarter estimated tax payments is now July 15. The relief is automatic, so taxpayers do not need to file any extension forms.

The AICPA applauded Treasury and the IRS for the extensive tax filing and payment relief.
