The IRS will step up efforts to visit high-income taxpayers who in prior years have failed to file their tax returns, the agency announced Wednesday, Feb. 19.
Following the recent and ongoing hiring of additional personnel, IRS revenue officers nationwide will conduct more face-to-face visits with taxpayers who had an income of more than $100,000 during a tax year and did not file a return in 2018 or prior years.
The first visit from a revenue officer is almost always unannounced, but taxpayers in question will have already received numerous letters from the IRS regarding their tax issue.
