DOR surpasses $82M auditor revenue goal

January 3, 2020

The Wisconsin Department of Revenue (DOR) surpassed its Act 55 goal of generating $82 million in additional audit collections for the 2019 fiscal year, DOR states in its new auditor revenue generation report.

New auditor and audit-related positions generated $159.9 million with an additional $857 million in assessments pending payment or appeal resolution as of June 30, 2019. Based on the report’s findings, the DOR sees potential for more revenues as out-of-state businesses comply with the Wayfair decision. The department believes the new auditor and auditor-related positions could generate up to $60 million more next year.

The DOR surpassed its goals in three of four revenue-generation initiatives, according to the report.
