Everstream, an internet service provider based in Cleveland, recently announced its plans to invest $27 million in Milwaukee to expand the metro area’s fiber network in time for the 2020 Democratic National Convention (DNC).
The two-phase fiber network expansion will encircle western Milwaukee suburbs and touch the western part of the city’s downtown, the company said in a press release. By next November, a 172-mile fiber network will be brought online. By the end of 2020, the network will expand another 388 miles to create a denser network covering the greater Milwaukee area.
The fiber network expansion will provide businesses in the area with more reliable and quicker internet access — especially during the DNC.
