Wisconsin’s closing balance for the 2019 fiscal year reached a 20-year high, according to the Wisconsin Department of Administration’s Annual Fiscal Report (PDF) released last week.
The report provides a summary of state finances after closing the books on the prior state budget.
As previously noted by the nonpartisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau, the state is doing well financially. Wisconsin’s closing balance for the last fiscal year was $1.1 billion — a 20-year high.
The report also confirmed the previously projected $321.7 million transfer to the state’s rainy day fund, bringing it to an all-time high balance of $649.1 million.
