Taxpayers can now choose a direct debit option to pay toward their federal tax debt, the IRS recently announced. With preauthorized direct debit, the taxpayer gives written permission to their assigned private collection agency (PCA) to authorize a payment on the taxpayer’s behalf to the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
This new payment option allows the taxpayer to conveniently and securely schedule multiple payments with the ease of a single phone call to their assigned PCA.
Electronic payment options are still available on the IRS website.
