The smallest slights and oversights can ruin a relationship with a co-worker. “Micromoves” are small actions or behaviors that seem inconsequential at the time but affect how we relate to one another. They can bring people together, and they can tear them apart.
Neglecting to include someone in your group lunch plans, disrespecting someone’s idea in a meeting, being inattentive to someone because you’re looking at your phone—all of these are micromoves that can damage relationships. But all is not lost.
