Five Wisconsin top CPA Exam scorers are among 58 candidates to earn the highest cumulative scores on the rigorous four-part CPA Examination and receive the AICPA 2017 Elijah Watt Sells Award. A total of 98,858 individuals from across the U.S. sat for the exam in 2017.
The award, named after one of the first CPAs in the country, was established by the AICPA in 1923 to recognize outstanding national performance on the CPA Exam. It is bestowed upon candidates who have obtained a cumulative average score above 95.50 across all four sections of the exam and have passed each section on their first attempt.
WICPA is pleased to announce the winning Wisconsin recipients:
- Douglass Y. Bartley, Grafton, is employed at Ernst & Young LLP in Milwaukee and is a member of the WICPA. He is a graduate of UW-Milwaukee with a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting and a Master of Science in Management–Professional Accounting.
- Peter H. Hamilton, Woodridge, Illinois, is employed at PwC in Chicago. He is a graduate of UW-Madison with a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting and a Master of Accountancy.
- Spencer J. Lang, Sun Prairie, is employed at Baker Tilly in Madison. He is a graduate of UW-Whitewater with a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting and a Master of Professional Accountancy.
- Nicholas Nikolov, Milwaukee, is employed at Deloitte & Touche LLP in Milwaukee. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy.
- Tyler S. Reindl, Sun Prairie, is employed at PwC in Milwaukee. He is a graduate of the UW-Madison with a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting and a Master of Accountancy.
