Gov. Tony Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Administration (DOA) have announced the state of Wisconsin ended fiscal year 2024 with a positive balance of $4.6 billion.
According to DOA’s annual fiscal report, Wisconsin also saw its ‘rainy day’ fund increase to $1.9 billion.
In fiscal year 2024, the state of Wisconsin continued to devote a major share of state tax collections to the assistance of local school districts, municipalities and counties. Local assistance accounted for 45.7% of total general-purpose revenue expenditures.
State general fund tax collections in fiscal year 2024 increased by 1.7% over the prior year and were 1.3% higher than estimated. See the full 2024 Annual Fiscal Report.
