In a WORT radio interview, Matthew Gardner, senior fellow with the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy, talks about tax changes and their effect on corporations’ tax-paying habits.
Gardner says Netflix is a typical example of corporate tax paying behavior. His research looked at all profitable companies, and found that Netflix was one of 100 corporations to pay zero tax last year.
Although the goal of tax reform was to close loopholes and reduce the tax rate, Gardner’s research finds the tax rate decreased without closing the loopholes.
