Workplace diversity is about understanding, accepting and valuing differences between people of different races, ethnicities, genders, ages, religions, disabilities and sexual orientations. Inclusion is a collaborative, respectful environment that increases the participation and contribution of all employees.
Diversity and inclusion programs are supposed to help recruit and retain great talent, build employee engagement, increase innovation and improve business performance.
A Boston Consulting Group survey, distributed in 14 countries, found that 96-98 percent of large companies have diversity programs in place, but 75 percent of employees who fall in the diverse groups don’t feel they’ve benefited from their companies’ diversity and inclusion programs.
Companies that want to make progress in achieving diversity and inclusion may find success by putting several measures in place.
