The dynamic and ever-changing accounting profession contends with constant disruption. At the recent AICPA Engage Conference, AICPA President & CEO Barry Melancon discussed what’s in store for CPAs and their firms.
Although regulation created CPAs as auditors, the majority will never work on a public audit. As tax experts and business advisors, CPAs are expanding their firms to provide a variety of services that need a very different skill set.
“The profession is going to be fantastic,” Melancon said. “It’s just not going to be fantastic in the way it’s always been.”
