Two recent surveys conducted in 18 counties in northeastern Wisconsin—the “New North” region—found that businesses don’t have enough qualified employees to fill current positions or anticipated openings, and leaders fear their businesses are at risk for disruption.
Survey results show the need for business leaders to adopt new practices for attracting talent because existing methodologies may not work in the future.
The Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. has introduced multiple initiatives to address the state’s talent shortage, including campaigns that target Midwest millennials, Wisconsin college and university alumni, and veterans returning to civilian life.
