The Black CPA Centennial, a national initiative to provide financial support to Black accounting students and professionals, recently awarded 100 scholarships across the U.S. totaling $93,500.
In 1921, 25 years after the U.S. granted the first CPA certificate, John W. Cromwell Jr. became the nation’s first Black CPA.
The Black CPA Centennial Fund, established in 2021 to celebrate Cromwell’s landmark achievement, provided the Aspiring Black CPA Scholarship to provide immediate financial support for Black and African Americans pursuing the CPA credential.
The scholarships will provide financial support for expenses related to preparing for taking the CPA Exam, including tuition toward CPA eligibility, classroom materials, preparation courses and more.
The scholarship recipients include two Wisconsin residents, Jamo Baldeh and Rajana Britton. Learn more.
