Better taxpayer service among GAO priorities for IRS

June 16, 2022

The IRS should implement more than two dozen past and new top recommendations by the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO), the GAO said in a recent letter to the agency.

The GAO divides the recommendations into six categories: improving taxpayer services; reducing tax fraud and improper payments; improving cybersecurity; enhancing information reporting; improving audit effectiveness; and enhancing IRS staffing and personnel management. Learn more.
