Some Gen Zers prefer in-person work

August 14, 2021

About 40% of Generation Z is wary of remote working and fears falling behind by working at home, according to a new poll by youth research firm Generation Lab.

Another 39% of Gen Zers want a hybrid workplace, 19% want to work remotely and 3% have no preference. These numbers are starkly different from other results from across the workforce.

Why do some Gen Zers want to come to the office? Young employees fresh in the workforce worry that they will miss out on valuable skills and opportunities that an office culture provides, like community and mentorship.

Additionally, younger employees are more likely to live in close quarters with roommates and parents. An office has fewer distractions.
