Overview

Sessions covered in this On-Demand replay of the Accounting & Auditing Conference:

Accounting & Auditing Update
This session will provide information on relevant current and upcoming changes in GAAP and GAAS. The primary focus will be on key areas that you should be addressing, as well as real-world practical examples and tips.

Maintaining Ethical Objectivity & Independence
Staying independent within the accounting and financial community is extremely important in today's financial environment. People around you may want to push across a line that could result in you aiding or assisting in potential fraudulent acts. Being too agreeable in a request could result in either losing your license, getting involved in a civil audit or becoming a target of a criminal investigation. Gain insights from cautionary tales where lines were crossed, and guidance on how to maintain objectivity and independence.

New Federal Requirement for Businesses: Beneficial Ownership Reporting 101
The Corporate Transparency Act requires many companies doing business in the United States to report information to the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) about who ultimately owns or controls them. Hear directly from a FinCEN representative about information on beneficial ownership reporting and how to comply with the law. This session will include a walkthrough of how to fill out the form, as well as a period for questions.

Hot Tax Practice & Procedure & Ethics Issues
This session will include a discussion of timely tax and ethics issues that the tax practitioner needs to be made aware of, particularly given the massive increase in IRS funding and the expected increase in IRS and Wisconsin Department of Revenue (WDOR) scrutiny on taxpayers of all sizes. It will provide an update on "hot" IRS and WDOR practice and procedure and ethics issues, along with the blunders and mistakes practitioners should avoid.
