The IRS is reporting a smooth tax filing season, with no backlog of paper returns and improved customer service.
The agency has received over 71 million tax returns, processed 98% of them and expects to receive the remaining returns by the April 15 deadline.
About 70% of filers will get refunds, with an average refund of $3,109, 6% higher than last year.
