Leadership
The WICPA Board of Directors represents the membership, exercises leadership, participates in strategic planning, and approves the annual WICPA budget, bylaw amendments, selection of auditors, and other actions relating to organizational governance. The board consists of 15 members.
The WICPA is seeking Board member applications for the 2014-2015 fiscal year. Open Board member positions include Chair-elect and three (3) Director positions.

Robert A. Gruber, CPA, Ph.D. - Chair
Robert A. Gruber, CPA., Ph.D., CPA is an accounting professor at the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater. He is a past president of the WICPA Educational Foundation and serves on the Accounting Careers Committee. Robert recently served as a member of the Disney College Program’s National Advisory Board and was a member of the Mukwonago Area School Board for two terms. His wife, Cindy, teaches accounting at Marquette University. They live in Mukwonago and have two children, Robbie and Alyssa.
Jean Hansen, CPA, MBA, CGMA – Chair-elect
Jean M. Hansen, CPA, MBA, CGMA is the vice president of finance at Manitowoc Tool & Machining, LLC in Manitowoc. Hansen has been a member of the WICPA since 1996 and currently serves on the Finance Committee and Membership Advisory Committee. She lives in Two Rivers with her husband, Jeff, and has two adult children, Sarah and Dane and enjoys spending time with her granddaughter, Grace.
Danica E. Olson, CPA, CGMA – Past Chair
Danica E. Olson, CPA is the accounting manager for the Milwaukee Bucks, Inc. Olson has been a member of the WICPA since 2000 and has served on the WICPA Educational Foundation Board, Inc., Milwaukee Breakfast Program Committee, CPAs in Industry Spring Conference Committee, Wisconsin State Taxation Committee and Young Professionals Committee. She is also a member of the Forensic CPA Society, Milwaukee World Trade Association, and Alpha Xi Delta Women's Fraternity and is an accounting instructor at DeVry University and University of Phoenix. She enjoys traveling and playing tennis in her free time. She and her husband, Andy, live in Milwaukee with their cats: Chloe, Meg and Rocca.
Joy L. Hertlein, CPA, CGMA – Secretary/Treasurer
Joy L. Hertlein, CPA, CGMA, is the chief financial officer of New Berlin Plastics in New Berlin. Hertlein has been a member of the WICPA since 1987 and currently serves on the Institute’s CPAs in Industry Fall Conference Task Force. She has also served on the WICPA Board of Directors, Finance Committee, Nominations Committee, Executive Search Committee, and the CPAs in Industry Spring Conference Task Force. Hertlein lives in New Berlin with her husband, Jerry, and has three teenage children, Michael, Emily and Andrea.

Kyle Beld, CPA is a senior accountant at Wipfli in Madison. A WICPA member since 2008, he serves as a member of the Institute’s Young Professionals Committee, Public Policy Committee and Excellence Awards Committee. He has also participated in the WICPA High School Educator Symposium. Kyle and his wife, Sara, live in Lodi and have three children, Walter, Vivian, and Eleanor.

Katherine L. Hauser, CPA, CGMA is the accounting supervisor at Price Engineering Company, Inc. in Hartland. A WICPA member since 2001, she has served on the Institute’s CPAs in Industry Fall Conference Planning Task Force since 2007. When not working, she enjoys reading, sports and music.

Kelly K. Miller, CPA, a shareholder in the accounting and auditing department at Scribner, Cohen and Company, S.C., in Milwaukee. Miller specializes in the nonprofit arena and serves on the board of directors for St. Francis Children's Center and Milwaukee Aging Consortium. Miller, a member of the WICPA since 1999, has also served on the Accounting Careers Committee. She is currently a member of the Not-for-Profit Conference Task force. She and her husband, Gene, live in East Troy and have two sons: Wyatt and Cody.

Joan M. Phillips, CPA is a partner in the audit practice at Deloitte in Milwaukee. Phillips is a past president of the WICPA Educational Foundation, Inc. and volunteers with several other organizations, including the Betty Brinn Children’s Museum and as a trustee at her parish. She and her husband, Dean, live in Germantown and have two children: Adam and Eric.

Greg Ryan, CPA is the office managing partner of KPMG’s Milwaukee office, directing all aspects of operations in the Wisconsin market. He has more than 20 years of experience, serving a variety of clients, from middle market, privately held companies to large public multinational companies. Ryan is currently a director on the WICPA Education Foundation. He is also a committee member for the United Performing Arts Fund, the Marquette University National Alumni Board and the Greater Milwaukee Committee. He lives in Franklin with his wife, Anne, and their two children, Maggie and Colin.

Matthew I. Raunio, CPA is assistant professor of business and economics at the University of Wisconsin–Sheboygan. Raunio has been a member of the WICPA since 1980 and has served on the WICPA Accountancy Regulation in Wisconsin and Finance Committees. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and has served on the AICPA Investments Committee. He has three adult children: Duncan, Dillon and Ethe. He also enjoys golfing.

Martin D. Verhelst, CPA is owner of Verhelst, CPA is Oregon, specializing in working with small-business and professional clients. Verhest, a member of the WICPA since 1975, was vice president of the Board of Directors from 1989-1991. He also was a member of several WICPA task forces and committees, including the Accounting, Auditing and Financial Management Conference Task Force, and was chairperson of the Public Policy Committee. His wife, Debbi, has worked with him at Verhelst, CPA since January 1990.

Karla E. Blair, CPA is a retired shareholder with Schenck SC in Appleton. Blair has served on the WICPA Educational Foundation Board of Directors and the WICPA 100th Anniversary Task Force. She currently serves on the State of Wisconsin Accounting Examing Board.

Nicholas S. Lascari, CPA, CEA, CGMA – AICPA Council (term beings Oct. 2013)
Nick Lascari, CPA, CEA, CGMA is an owner and partner with Balistreri, Jezo & Lascari, LLP in Brookfield. He specializes in small business and pass-throughs. He is a past president and chair of the WICPA Board of Directors, and has volunteered with several other organizations including serving as past chairman and current treasurer of the Better Business Bureau, the Journey House, Civic Music Association and St. Jude Congregation. He has served the WICPA as past chair of the Federal Tax Committee and Tax Conference Committee, and served on the AICPA Partnership Tax Committee, Individual Tax Committee, and Tax Legislation and Policy Committee. He currently serves on the WICPA Federal Taxation Committee and is the AICPA Key Federal Person Coordinator for Wisconsin. He enjoys golfing, home improvement projects, gardening and travel with his wife, Delores, to visit their two grown sons, daughters-in-law and four grandchildren.
